| Laser Vein Treatment |
Questions:
- How does Vein Therapy work?
- With a beam of light, the laser can deliver a prescribed dose of
energy to the spider veins. The laser selectively coagulates the problem
veins while sparing surrounding areas. After treatment, the vessel slowly
and naturally disappears.
- What types of veins can be treated?
- Our system can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body.
We can treat telangiectasisas of the face and legs, cherry angiomas, spider veins, and even deep blue/purple leg veins with excellent results.
Large varicose veins are not good candidates.
- What are spider veins?
- Spider veins are small, dilated blood vessels that appear red or
blue. These vessels, each about the size of a large hair, often look
like a spider web or may be matted to appear in a sunburst pattern.
They are commonly found on the face and legs.
- How does this compare to Sclerotherapy?
- Primary advantages of laser therapy: Faster with less discomfort
Non-invasive No needles Better at treating the small vessels Lower risk
of bruising and infection
- How many treatments do I need?
- Most find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the
number of treatments needed vary depending on the number, color, and
size of the vessels being treated. This non-invasive treatment process
takes between 10 to 20 minutes, depending on your situation.
- Do the treatments hurt?
- Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the light energy
is delivered, and topical anesthesia can be used if needed. To optimize
patient comfort without the use of anesthetics, however, we have a cooling
machine to minimize discomfort.
- How long do the results last?
- The re-growth of vessels after treatment is highly individual and
depends on genetics, environment, lifestyle, hormonal changes in your
body, and medications.
- What happens after the treatment?
- Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur.
- What are the possible side effects?
- Side effects are rare, and those most commonly noticed are mild
redness and local swelling of the skin. On rare occasion, bruising may
occur. Your medical consultants will discuss other rare risks with you.
- Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
- There is no down time after the treatment, which means you can resume
your normal activities immediately afterward.
- When will I see results?
- Often results will be immediate after one treatment; however, you
may continue to see improvement over weeks and months for large veins.
